Think you can’t draw? You’re not alone! Drawing for the Terrified is a friendly, supportive five-week course designed to help you overcome the fear of drawing and discover that drawing is a skill that anyone can learn.
Across the five sessions, we’ll take things slowly and explore the foundations of drawing without pressure to produce a perfect picture. You’ll learn how to really look at what you are drawing, break subjects down into simple shapes, use line and tone, explore proportion and perspective, and create light, shade and texture.
We’ll work with a variety of everyday objects and simple subjects, using enjoyable exercises and guided activities to build your confidence as the weeks progress. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to practise, experiment and discover the approaches that work best for you.
This course is ideal for complete beginners, anyone who has always believed they “can’t draw”, or those who used to draw and would like to refresh their skills and confidence. You don’t need any previous experience, just a willingness to have a go!
All materials are provided, so you can simply turn up and start drawing. You’re also very welcome to bring along your own pencils, sketchbooks or other drawing materials if you already have them. If you have supplies you’re unsure about, bring them along and I’ll be happy to explain what they are and how you can use them.
You'll also have access to the Art Hub, a dedicated place where you can post images of your work, share your progress, and receive feedback from both fellow students and myself.
Come along, have a go and discover that drawing might not be quite as terrifying as you thought!
Book your spot and discover the joy of creating together.
