Course: Sketching in the Park, Minehead
Time:1.30pm – 4pm
Venue: Blenheim Rd, Minehead TA24 5QA (meet outside Blenheim Gardens Café)
Dates: 18th July 2026
Duration: 2.5 hours
Escape the demands of everyday life and spend a peaceful afternoon sketching in the beautiful surroundings of Blenheim Gardens.
This workshop invites you to slow down, observe nature and develop your sketching skills in a relaxed and supportive environment. The gardens provide an abundance of inspiration, from colourful flower borders and mature trees, to winding pathways and hidden corners waiting to be discovered.
Working at your own pace, you'll learn practical techniques for composition, observation and capturing natural forms. I'll share tips for simplifying what you see, building confidence in your drawings and creating lively sketches that capture the atmosphere of a place rather than every tiny detail.
Outdoor sketching is a fantastic way to improve your drawing skills while enjoying the wellbeing benefits of spending time in nature. Whether you are picking up a sketchbook for the first time or looking for fresh inspiration, you'll leave with new ideas, greater confidence and a collection of sketches to develop further at home.
Suitable for: All abilities
What to bring: A sketchbook and drawing materials, a small watercolour kit if you have one and weather-appropriate clothing. There are plenty of benches to sit on in the park but do bring a cushion or blanket if you want.
Further support: You'll also have access to the Art Hub, a dedicated place where you can post images of your work, share your progress, and receive feedback from both fellow students and myself, after the workshop has finished.
