Thanks Tricia, Sonia and George for your encouraging comments. I am sure you are correct that the water needs more darks. I squinted my eyes to get a general idea of tone from one area to another and the water was much lighter than the rocks etc, but I guess it does need quite a lot of contrast within it. I’ll play around and see how it goes, at least with graphite you can rub it out! Helen
