These are water colour pencils. Montalbano is quirky and humorous, set in Sicily with subtitles.
The tv intro is just arial shots of the island. I doodled the one on the right first, he's always having a dip in the sea before breakfast. I've just discovered that there are over thirty books so I've got plenty to go at! Might work in a different medium.

Brilliant captures it all so well. I love the TV series both young Monalbano and the Montalbano series so yes started the books. They have a sense of humour so the cover works well.
