Practice in rubbing out
I did this as I’ve been looking at paintings from an American artist, George Innes. I used just 2 colours red and green, also linseed oil. Then most of the effects were done with kitchen towel, q-tips, cocktail stick and old bank card. Oil on canvas board.

Yeah. Sure. Although it's not monochrome (using various tones of only one colour) it is still an image playing with light.
