On topic of motivation or approaches if lacking such…response to a recent email topic from Tricia

Regarding a current motivation and inspiration topic just e mailed by Tricia: what about " art journaling" or daily or periodic and themed journaling as putforward by...Suzi Gablik...is it?... who has put out a fairly famous book on this sort of topic if getting new or revived motivation in all or any areas of art and life....The Way of The Artist I think the bookis called...a series of steps and approaches to help get beyond artist block and similar topics: I tried joining in with an art friend who did a course exploring this during later lockdown times...going through the themed chapters...or adapting them as inclined...and some seem to find this approach of just journaling away whatever is currently in the mind can help to get beyond or take position on whatever sometimes is in the way...whether negative thoughts or other subjects...I also recall a tv documentary about artist Maggie…

Getting motivated.

In response to your question Tricia about motivation:

I find it SO difficult to get motivated . I've put a prompt on my phone to remind me daily to set aside 10 minutes - especially as I find sitting for long periods really difficult. I also think it's a state of mind too, I've been very depressed with a lot of issues happening some of them very long term. I used to think that peace and quiet was the way to go to getting my art done but very recently I have found listening (ON MY HEADPHONES) to music I like has given me a way to shut out my surroundings and the other noise has allowed me to focus on what I'm doing without distractions - so that's part of my solution. I also find doing some research on the pictures and things that inspire me and keepi…

Great ideas. I know for me it's a time issue and when I do get free time I tend to just sit and watch TV. Am I being lazy, procrastinating or just taking time to wind down?

I know taking time for yourself is really important, but is your art the thing that is special time for you?

Not sure, but you seem to have some ideas in place.

Two colour

Hello I've finally made the chatroom. I didn't do the one on the left 😂I had a go at sketching it myself and changing to 2 colours instead of using an app... Big thing for me. Mane disjointed. Any tips..

Lovely work! A very striking image. The colour choice is great, the blue/ turquoise really pops. I think you could probably get away with more contrast, try adding a little more darker tones (along the back and down the side of the face cast in shadow by the mane.) You sketched this image really well and kept the proportions just right.
