Materials used:oil based coloured pencils, Zest-it and water-based ink brush pens on 135 gsm sketching paper.
The sea lion is close to the leafy seadragon which is rolling in the kelp. These are found in Western Australia.
The oil based pencils were quite nice to use but harder compared to wax based pencils. They also stayed sharper for longer and were less opaque. I used oil dilutant (Zest-it) to spread out the black background. The vibrancy of the greens, oranges ,yellows and browns was increased using ink brush pens.
Great description of your materials and technique. Thanks for sharing.
This is a lovely depiction, with bold colours in the foreground.
Did you end up using a 'blending' pencil or just the zest-it?
