Here are the original designs. You can see on the bottom right, the original first sketch idea. Then right is the slightly enlarged and in the centre the penultimate design, before being transfer to the lino block. If you compare to the finished print you can see changes and elements added while cutting the block.
Thanks really kind. There is loads I would change. Because I worked on it at different times the style has slightly changed. I wish the lines on the blouse were finer. But these were one of the first things I cut (trying to put off cutting the animals) at the time I thought it would be more stylised, but as I worked on the animals (putting off cutting the face) I added more detail. In the end I should have added even more detail. Then when I got to the face I ended us having more detail to make it fit. But now I don't think the sleeves work quite right.I did have to stop myself adding lots of tiny detail into the skirt or her 'apron' top.
Stunning picture ! I’ve been looking at and analysing this image for the last 5 minutes Tricia. I love the way you have designed the image and the attention to detail, the shading and textures. Is this from your imagination Tricia ? Did you combine several images? This has.motivated me to improve my lino printing.
I sketched the idea small first. Then enlarged it to a3. Then I took the middle section and designed the animals larger and in a bit more detail. Then added the body around. I was constrained by the largest size of lino and paper I had.
Amazing! It's so intricate and there are so many images to admire in it. Especially the animals but also the boots!Oh and I've just noticed the cat, purrfect!
Thanks. I'll get some nicer paper (that isnt all crinkly) and take some nice prints next weekend. I may also try some chine colle to add some colour elements into the print.
