Haunted House
Watch the whole process as I carve a pumpkin with a haunted house design.
For this project you will need:
Pumpkin
Suitable knives (be careful!)
Lino carving tools
A design of your choice
Pencil and pen to mark out your design
Tea-light….to illuminate
This project should take between 1-3 hours!
First cut the stalk and part of the top off to make a lid.
Next scrape out the seeds and some of the flesh from the sides of the pumpkin.
If you are only going to cut shapes into your pumpkin, then make sure you scoop lots of flesh out. This makes the walls thinner and easier to cut through.
I left mine thicker as I also wanted to carve the skin off in parts so I had only a little light shine through.
Sketch your design and mark out on you pumpkin.
I drew over some areas with a marker pen.
Now.....just start cutting and carving! Be careful with your knives, make sure they are sharp enough to cut through the pumpkin and put them down somewhere safe if you are swapping between them.
Your pumpkin can get wet and slippery so have a cloth handy to wipe it and your surface dry.
