Thank you Tricia. I initially glued different materials onto my board ( sand, saw dust, salt, rice,hessian,string ), then put a thick uneven layer of gesso over the top and painted a ground colour. I then looked at the overall textured surface and decided on what to paint. I agree that the composition is not good and the tree is too central. But I enjoyed working in a rather unconventional way.
I like the use of texture mediums. What did you use?Remember to think about your composition. The tree trunk in the centre cuts your image in half and draws the eye too much...because of the bend, it does draw the eye over to the right hand corner a little.
Wow. I like the idea.of just adding texture and then deciding what your work is representing. Not easy though. Great job.
