Brilliant portrait George! You’ve really built up the layers of pastel well. It must be very good paper to hold so many different layers, is it like a sandpaper like the Sennelier card? The glasses look good too, I always find them difficult. Helen
Thank you Helen. I used Canson Mi-Teintes Touch pastel paper. You can put several layers of pastel onto this paper if you use a light touch. Can also be used for mixed media and wet media. Really nice paper. I got mine from Jackson’s uk.
Thank you Tricia. What helped me was the use of pastel paper with a lot of tooth , using the pastels very lightly on the paper and putting about four or five layers on top of each other. The softer pastels were only used for the final layer as these fill up the tooth quickly.
That’s interesting, thanks George. Helen

What a fabulous picture George, you’ve really captured yourself.
It's such a great portrait. I lo e the mark making with the pastels, it reminds me of Van Gogh!
That's a great portrait!
