The God's Eye known in western Mexico as Ojo de dios.
These woven items are made by the Huichol and Tepehuan Indians of western Mexico. The God's Eye symbolises the idea of 'seeing and understanding that which is unknown and unknowable'. The four points represent the elemental processes: earth, fire, air, and water. The Huichol call their God's eyes Sikuli, which means "the power to see and understand things unknown. "
Ojos de Dios were also an important worship object for the Aymara Indians in South America. Native American tribes in the southwestern region of the United States also adopted this object and its spiritual customs. The Navajo are known for their eight-sided Ojos de Dios.
