Thanks for your comments Tricia, always useful. The brown on the leaves is, of course red on green. My print run of 10 has widely varying greens and therefore 'browns' and also varying zingyness! I guess I could have mixed the red, green and a blue to make a black but it hadn't occurred to me. I masked the butterfly for the green print so the red would be bright. There's lots to think about isn't there?!!! Helen
Very nicely done Helen. I like the dynamic composition with the surrounding border. Tricia mentions making your own black.
I have not tried mixing red, yellow and blue caligo ink primaries to produce black. I suppose like with paints, mixing your own colours from primaries makes the print more harmonious.
I wonder if the brown is a little too much over the green, or if the green is a little 'zingy' against the brown.
You might think about mixing your own black. Although I think the black looks great on the butterfly. It's a good idea to use the frame to get a good print without too much background 'chatter'.

This is so lovely Helen, well done.
Lovely lino print.
The butterfly really looks stunning.
