I like the repetitive pattern on this george that you’ve used to create a tree. Will you be leaving it black and white or putting colour washes over it?
Very interesting. When you cut you background pay attention to the direction of your carving marks. Either cut in a specific direction so that any 'noise" (when you still have cut marks that haven't been cleared) is part of the design. Or think about using things like crosshatching to add texture to your background. Take a look at work on www.woodengravers.co.ukReally focus on the marks used to depict texture, light and shade.
