Not sure how you decide Tricia when to stop with soft pastels .. am aware it can go from colours to a blended mess quite quickly. I really like this photo I took and interpreting into a painting but any advice welcomed!
Very nicely done Rebecca. I like the texture and detail as well as the composition. I check my tonal range by turning the image into b&w. Great painting.
The only advice I can give, when trying to decide if you've finished, is take a look at your tones and check you have a good contrast (lights and darks) not everything mid-range.
I love the texture you've depicted on the sea lion's fur.
Thankyou it’s only A4 .. I will take the tone advice onboard .. I got stuck on the female seals head .. tried all sorts of lighter colours .. if I used white it competed with the pup.. soft pastels are very messy but really enjoyed it. See you next year and Thankyou for all the lifedrawing sessions this year .
Thankyou for all the tips much appreciated . Happy Christmas.

I really like this, and all those different colours in the pup's fur - fabulous. Helen
